About Me
Here’s an idea
Let’s grab this life and wring its neck with joy
So that when it comes time to die
When we find we have no breath left
It is because we willingly strangled ourselves
With love
Fell down dead
And mostly happy
- Linford Detweiler
An important note
On September 2, 2006, I married my love and left this blog and my maiden name for greener pastures. You can find me there now.
A brief history
I was born at an early age in Albany, New York, and proceeded to live in the neighborhood for about twenty-one years. My Dad, a guitar fanatic with an extraordinarily random sense of humor, brought me into the Red Sox family at a very young age and I’ve never quite recovered. My mom homeschooled me from sixth grade to graduation and is the most successful bargain hunter I know. And my brother, 5 1/2 years younger than me, is way cooler than I am. They all live in Loudonville.
After private school and homeschool, I attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and graduated in May 2005 with a B.S. in Information Technology, a heavily left-brained experience from which I’m slowly recovering. In June 2005, I moved to New York City to work at Banc of America Securities as a business analyst, which loosely translated means “geek with people skills”.
I live on the top floor of a little brick building in Park Slope, Brooklyn and am a member of the The Village Church, a small PCA congregation in Greenwich Village - and only the coolest church on the planet. I’m the editor of the Career & Finance section of the online version of Relevant Magazine. And I’m going to marry Tom this fall, provided we remain sane until then.
Most importantly, I was adopted by my Father long before the foundations of the earth, and He saw fit to woo me and win me despite my many, varied, and persistent shortcomings. My greatest desire in all of life is to be a portrait of Him to those who He’s put in my path. And it looks like He’s decided to put my path in New York, so I’ve got a lot of work ahead.
